So, how did I end up starting English with Lucy?
It all started with a big failure…
I was 19 when I moved to Madrid to improve my Spanish and start my marketing career, only for the company to shut down as soon as I arrived…
But I didn’t want to go home that quickly. So, I completed my TEFL qualification instead and fell in love with teaching.
I was then hired as a British English teacher at an academy, where I taught English students and trained other teachers. I loved it!
There was just one problem…
My students asked complex grammar questions that I didn’t know the answers to.
I wanted to be the best teacher I could be. So, I spent my evenings learning everything there is to know about conditionals, relative clauses, inversions and all the complicated grammar points that confuse English learners.
The more I studied, the more I noticed how boring the materials were.
I figured there HAD to be a more exciting way to teach English.
So I started my YouTube channel and began sharing video lessons, and I haven’t looked back since…
From one idea to 12 million students

I started English with Lucy to create fun, useful English language lessons.

I hit 100,000 subscribers and started receiving messages from learners who enjoyed my lessons.

My channel reached more than 1 million subscribers. In that same year, I received the University of Westminster entrepreneurial award.

My husband, Will, began working with me to grow English with Lucy. We set the goal of producing the highest-quality English lessons on the internet.

We built an incredible team of British English teachers and content creators who have helped us bring our content to another level and reach 12 million students on YouTube.
