What are the 12 English levels?

The CEFR standard categorizes language competency into six levels, ranging from A1 to C2. Some educational institutions and language schools, however, adopt a more granular 6-level system to better accommodate learners at various levels of ability.

Semi-circular chart showing English proficiency levels from A1 to C2. The chart is divided into three main categories: A-Level (A1, A2), B-Level (B1, B2), and C-Level (C1, C2), with an arrow above indicating progression from beginner to advanced.

These levels offer a more accurate picture and current level of a learner’s English ability, allowing for more targeted training and tailored learning routes.
